HOYA, the world renowned optical glass manufacturer, presents an innovative high definition line of filters.

HIGH TRANSPARENCY POLARIZING FILM

A newly developed high-transparency polarizing film that passes 25% more non-polarized light while still absorbing the same amount of polarized light. This is the same type of polarizing film that is used in the latest high definition TV screens.

This polarizing film is bonded between two 1mm thick pieces of hardened optical glass allow the polarizing frame to be lower profile for use on ultra-wide angle lenses.

HARDENED GLASS

Hardened optical glass that has more than four times the breaking strength of normal optical glass.

HARDENED 8 LAYER WATERPROOF MULTI-COATING THAT IS SCRATCH & STAIN RESISTANT

Newly developed industry leading 8-layer multi-coating yields an average light transmission rate of 99.35% between 400 and 700nm (visible spectrum). These coatings greatly reduce reflections off the surface of the glass allowing you to capture more light in your photos.

As with all HOYA multi-coatings, HD HMC is applied in a furnace at high heat, bonding the coating to the surface of the glass. This process is called "hard coating" and it is far more durable than other coating techniques. The chemistry of the top layer is formulated not just to be more durable but to be resistant to oil stains. This means that finger prints and other oils are much easier to remove.

The glass is inserted into the frame by a high-pressure press that mounts the glass so there is no screwed-in retaining ring or spring retaining clip.
