Broad ISO Range
EOS 60D allows wide ISO range from 100-6400 (with 1/3- step adjustment, expandable to 12800), enhancing sensitivity for any light situation and subjects in motion. ISO 100 allows the use of f/1.4 or larger aperture lens to create portrait images with impressive depth of field and right exposure even in bright outdoors; ISO 12800, on the other hand, assures true-to-life images and retain ambience in the scene even when shooting in severely under-lit environment without using flash.
EOS 60D also offers Auto ISO for hassle-free shooting under fluctuating lighting conditions. Upper limit for Auto ISO can be set from ISO 400 to 6400 according to the shooting objects and environment. High Precision 9-Point Cross-type AF
|
The 9-point AF system on the new EOS 60D features f/5.6-sensitive cross-type focusing on all 9 focusing points. The focusing points are widely spread out across the image plane and clearly displayed through the viewfinder, making it easier to focus off-center subject. The center AF point is a hybrid of standard cross-type and special diagonally-shaped "X" cross, with high-precision sensitivity for f/2.8 and larger aperture lenses. EOS 60D also adopts the AI Servo AF II algorithm as found in EOS-1D Mark IV and EOS 7D. It offers enhanced focus tracking accuracy by fast and correct prediction of movements, free from the short-term effect caused by intervening objects. AI Servo AF II also optimize auto focus performance in macro photography, to further enhance the ratio to obtain sharp macro images with auto focus. |

Advanced iFCL Metering System
|
Canon's iFCL (Intelligent Focus, Color, Luminance) metering system, identical to that on EOS 7D, includes a 63-zone dual-layer metering sensor that reads both illumination and color, takes brightness and color information into account to ensure precise and accurate results in all lighting conditions. By comparing the data obtained by both layers, the system determines the distribution of color spectrum and leads to the calculation of optimum exposure time. This avoids subjects in red to easily appear under-exposed when using ordinary metering system. When using Automatic AF point selection, the system also takes into account the information collected from the 9 AF points to recognize the subject's position and size for more accurate exposure. This keeps exposure levels stable from shot to shot, even as the light source changes. Also, this system has an expanded ± 5 EV exposure compensation range for easy creation of HDR (High Dynamic Range) images. |

Electronic Viewfinder
EOS 60D features a built-in Electronic Level for easy and accurate composition, it is perfect for shooting landscapes with level horizons and remove any potential need or limitation for post-production correction. It is most helpful when baselines for reference are hard to be seen.
This electronic level can be activated on the LCD monitor and Live View Mode simply by pressing the <INFO.> button, users can also select it to be visible in Viewfinder and LCD panel. The EOS Integrated Cleaning System, highly appreciated by professional photographers, can also be found in EOS 60D. First of all, the materials of the mirror box and the shutter are specially chosen for their dust-resistance. Coupled with fluorine coated filter in front of the CMOS sensor which further prevents dust attachment, the self cleaning sensor unit of EOS 60D shake dust off the filter with ultrasonic vibration during each start up and shut down. It can also map the position of visible dust on the sensor and appends as “Dust Delete Data”, the dust spots can be removed in the Dust Delete function with bundled software. With EOS Integrated Cleaning System, users can expect exceptionally dust-free images from EOS 60D. |
