The 25mm wide-angle 24x optical zoom f/2.8-5.2 Leica DC Vario Elmarit lens has around twice the shooting area of a standard 35mm lens, giving you huge scope and scale for creative composition. The zoom can be used both in still and movie recording, which is great for shooting sport, concerts and other big events. You can get extra close thanks to the Extra Optical Zoom, which uses the centre part of the MOS sensor to extend the 24x zoom ratio to a powerful 50.6x zoom at a resolution of 3-megapixel or less for stills.

The Lumix DMC-FZ100 can record 1,920 x 1,080 full-HD movie of 50i (PAL) in AVCHD with the extraordinary sound quality of Dolby Digital Stereo Creator. Use Creative Movie mode to manually adjust the shutter speed and aperture. Or use iA (Intelligent Auto) if you want the camera to do the thinking while you concentrate on following the action. You can also record high-speed movies at 220fps in QVGA size.

SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Cards are easy to view on a Panasonic VIERA TV. Simply insert the card into the VIErA Image Viewer (SD/SDHC/SDXC card slot) on a VIErA TV or Panasonic Blu Ray recorder/player to playback your FHD content. Or connect the Lumix DMC FZ100 to your Panasonic VIErA TV via an optional mini HDMI cable and you can use the TV's remote control to view and share your handiwork.

To maximise full-HD movie recording, the camera has a 14.1-megapixel MOS sensor that achieves 11 fps / 5 fps with continuous AF in 14-megapixel full resolution, and 60 fps in approx. 3.5-megapixel resolution. The frame rate, AF setting and the recording resolution can be easily selected on the dedicated button on the top of the camera. Panasonic’s renowned Venus Engine FHD, featuring Intelligent Resolution technology and 32x Intelligent Zoom, is also built into the Lumix DMC-FZ100.

The iA Mode is enhanced by a new Motion Deblur mode to gain shutter speed. Combined with the Power O.I.S., any kind of handshake or motion blur is prevented. With the Power O.I.S., Intelligent ISO Control, Face Detection AF/AE, Face Recognition, Intelligent Scene Selector, Intelligent Exposure and AF Tracking, the camera does all the work in the iA Mode.

Manual operation is a breeze thanks to the intuitive jog dial and the focus switch conveniently located on the lens barrel. The camera’s My Colour mode and Film mode make it easy to experiment and enhance your images with customised colour effects. While Advanced Scene mode lets you quickly set your favourite Scene modes.
